A Solid Oak Wine Cellar with a Dedicated Room for Cases

Project Overview

This expansive basement wine cellar project was designed to meet both high-capacity storage requirements and the client’s desire for a classical, heritage-inspired finish. With multiple interconnected areas, the cellar needed to balance functionality with presentation, creating distinct zones for long-term storage, case management, and hosting, each built around the collection itself.

Case Storage Wall with Metal Inlays

In the adjoining social space, a wall of individual shelves was designed specifically for wines stored by the case. Each shelf features a metal inlay, allowing for smooth placement and removal of wooden boxes. Integrated soft LED lighting highlights each case, turning practical storage into a focused, visually engaging feature.

Custom Heritage-Inspired Lighting

Soft, integrated lighting was designed to complement the cellar’s classical style. Fixtures were selected and positioned to evoke a heritage feel, using a warm tone that enhances the timber and architectural details. This approach ensures the lighting is both practical and atmospheric, supporting function while reinforcing the traditional character of the space.

High-Capacity Bespoke Wine Storage

Storage throughout the cellar is tailored for efficiency and scale. The layout includes full-height racking, angled bottle displays, and shelving for large formats, allowing thousands of bottles to be stored in a clear, logical system. Every element is custom-built to suit the dimensions of the room and the makeup of the collection.

Specially designed feature racking

To add distinction to the cellar, feature racking elements were introduced, including angled displays and shelving for large-format bottles. Display holders were designed for specific bottles. A variety of large format bottles can be found on display, laid upon their own, specially designed rack.

Design Description

The main cellar was developed for efficient storage of a large and varied bottle collection. Walls are fitted with full-height joinery in a traditional layout, featuring rows of standard racking on the lower and upper sections. A single row of angled racking runs through the centre, allowing individual labels to be shown and easily accessed, ideal for a collection made up of many single-bottle entries.
