2 Star – Row on 5, Savile Row

Project Overview

Row on 5 is Jason Atherton’s two Michelin-star flagship restaurant in London, where Sorrells was commissioned to design and install a suite of bespoke wine storage solutions integrated throughout the venue. The project comprises five distinct features, each carefully tailored to optimise storage conditions, elevate the guest experience, and sit seamlessly within the restaurant’s interior design.

A standout element is the 3D-formed hands bottle display within the DRC cabinet. Developed through Sorrells’ in-house research and development, each custom-formed hand is precisely machined to cradle an individual bottle with absolute accuracy. The result is a striking sculptural installation that pushes the boundaries of bespoke craftsmanship while ensuring the secure storage of valuable fine wine.

The in-house manufactured metal doors and framework were designed exclusively for this space. Crafted from raw, uncoated steel, they complement the restaurant’s dark grey palette and reflect the refined industrial aesthetic of the interior. The framework spans three walls, allowing views both into and out of the cellar, while meeting the client’s exact functional and design requirements.

Wine Cellar Design Information

The wine storage installation at Row on 5 is divided into five individual zones, each with a specific function and tailored design:

Champagne Room

A dedicated space constructed from solid oak with brass rod inlays and gold mirror backing. The room holds 428 standard Champagne bottles and 15 magnums. A ceiling-mounted Sorrells temperature control system maintains the room at 13–16°C, ideal for wines that are ready to serve, distinct from the long-term fine wine storage conditions provided in the DRC Cabinet.
