Wine Cellar Under Stairs: A Sorrells Custom Wine Rooms Masterpiece
At Sorrells Custom Wine Rooms, we are experts in optimising every inch of available space, and our project focused on creating a wine cellar under stairs is a prime example. Located in a home in Essex, what was once a neglected under-stair area is now a highly functional wine storage capable of holding over 150 bottles.
Designing a Wine Cellar Under Stairs: The Challenge of Space
Designing a wine cellar under stairs comes with its own set of challenges due to limited space and height. We tackled this by closing off the existing open staircase with an Oak framework. The wood was stained to match the staircase, allowing for a cohesive and integrated look. Acrylic rods were affixed to glass panels, enabling bottles to lay flat, labels out—ideal for such a narrow space and making it easy to identify each bottle.
Material Choices for a Wine Cellar Under Stairs
When building a wine cellar under stairs, choosing the right materials can make or break the project. We used a combination of acrylic and solid oak to create racking that not only looks stunning but also keeps the space feeling airy and open.
Temperature Control in a Compact Space
One might think that installing a temperature control system in a wine cellar under stairs would be impossible due to the limited room. However, thanks to one of our bespoke temperature control systems, we ensured that each bottle stored will be in perfect condition, ready to be enjoyed.
The end result is a magnificent feature hallway in the home, serving not just as an aesthetic enhancement but also as an innovative, space-efficient wine cellar under stairs.
