Custom Wine Racks in Basement Wine Cellars: A Sorrells Custom Wine Rooms Project
The Space: Uniting Tradition and Functionality
In Sorrells Custom Wine Rooms, we specialise in merging aesthetic considerations with functional design. The basement wine cellar in this project features stone flooring, an arched brick roof, and well-preserved old features. This classic space serves as the ideal backdrop for our custom wine racks.
Central Island: More Than Just Storage
At the heart of this cellar, we integrated a central island designed not only for additional storage but also for displaying magnums. The joinery has been meticulously cut to align with the original brickwork and tiled flooring, ensuring a seamless finish.
Understanding Client Needs
Before commencing with the design, we collaborated with the client to comprehend their wine collection. Our findings indicated a wide array of cases and vintages. Consequently, we incorporated soft-close drawers, making it easier to access and store wine cases and cubes.
Special Features for Vintages and Large Format Bottles
Understanding the importance of showcasing unique bottles, we added three large-format bottle holders designed specifically for Jeroboam and Methuselah bottles. Under the window, angled displays provide visibility for wine labels, while the racks below enable organized storage for additional bottles of the same vintage.
Capacity and Material
The total capacity of this cellar is 1,100 bottles, comfortably housed in custom wine racks made from white American oak. The hardwood racks have an oiled finish, which naturally complements the traditional elements of the basement setting.
By focusing on the specific needs and aesthetic preferences of our client, this project by Sorrells Custom Wine Rooms highlights the endless possibilities of custom wine racks in transforming any space into a functional and visually appealing wine cellar.
