The Oslo Project with Pranvera Vula

Project Overview

The scope of this project was to build a contemporary wine cellar to house the client’s champagne collection, designed in collaboration with interior designer Pranvera Vula of Vula Design. The client requested two dedicated areas: one for ready-to-drink bottles and another for long-term storage. Pranvera has been featured in numerous design publications and was recently nominated as an Icon of Tomorrow by Olise Magazine. The client requested two dedicated areas: one for ready-to-drink bottles and another for long-term storage.

Sorrells was selected for our ability to design and manufacture a fully bespoke metal wine cellar, using our in-house metal fabrication facility. Our expertise in integrating two independent climate control systems ensured the cellar met both functional and technical requirements.

This project has also been shortlisted for the Interior Design Scheme – Global Award at The International Design & Architecture Awards 2025, recognising the exceptional standard of the design.

In-House Metal Fabricated Wine Racks

All wine racks for this project were fabricated in-house at the Sorrells metal workshop. The design features a custom configuration using precision-cut metal and acrylic components, tailored to fit the under-stairs space exactly. This approach allowed complete control over quality and finish, ensuring consistency with the contemporary aesthetic of the property. The use of various acrylic bottle hole designs provides efficient storage while maintaining a clean, modern appearance.

Dual Climate Control Systems

The cellar includes two independent, water-cooled climate control systems, each calibrated to meet specific storage needs. One system maintains the correct conditions for ready-to-drink champagne, while the other ensures a stable environment for long-term bottle ageing. The integration of these systems into a single compact space reflects Sorrells’ expertise in delivering functional solutions that meet exacting technical requirements.

Acrylic Angled Wine Rack Display Wall

An acrylic wall was incorporated to create a striking angled bottle display. Bottlenecks are placed into precision-cut circular holes within the wall, allowing each bottle to rest securely while appearing to float. This design provides an efficient storage solution and creates a visual feature that complements the contemporary aesthetic of the wine room.

Design Details

The wine cellar was designed to maximise the under-stairs space while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic that complements the modern property. Storage capacity exceeds 300 bottles, with a modern design that incorporates unique racking solutions.

All elements were manufactured entirely in-house, reflecting Sorrells’ integrated approach. The metal racking was fabricated in our dedicated metal workshop, while the joinery and framework were produced in our woodwork shop, finished in a Havana Black stain. The acrylic racking was custom designed and precision laser-cut to specification. All components were prepared and finished through our in-house paint facility, ensuring consistency across materials and finishes.
