Brunswick Fine Wine & Spirits, Brighton

Project Overview

Located in the heart of Brighton, Brunswick Fine Wines & Spirits is an independent merchant specialising in rare and fine wines. Sorrells was commissioned to deliver a trio of bespoke wine storage solutions that would elevate the retail experience, enhance in-store functionality, and reinforce the brand’s positioning within the luxury wine market.

The project comprises three key elements: a walk-in wine cellar for storage and display, a champagne wall set within the tasting room, and a pair of temperature-controlled wine cabinets integrated into the shop’s interior. Each element was tailored to suit the space, combining technical performance with refined craftsmanship.

The Main Wine Cellar

At the core of the project is a fully temperature-controlled wine cellar, designed to hold both bottles and full cases in a highly visible, accessible format. Situated at the rear of the store, the cellar serves as a working storage room while remaining a key part of the customer experience.

Bespoke racking in natural Hardwood Oak provides capacity for a diverse inventory, with dedicated bays for individual bottles and full case storage. Custom labels are integrated beneath each row, allowing the team to display pricing and wine details with clarity and flexibility. The cellar is fitted with a dedicated climate control system, calibrated specifically for the preservation of fine wine.

Champagne Wall in the Tasting Room

In Brunswick’s tasting room, Sorrells designed and installed a Champagne wall that wraps elegantly around the in-room television. This creates a dramatic focal point and reflects the shop’s strength in vintage and prestige cuvée Champagne.

Floating shelving is used to support the bottles horizontally, allowing for label visibility while keeping the display open and balanced. The result is both functional and theatrical – supporting tastings, private events, and retail storytelling in equal measure.

Transtherm Wine Cabinets with Bespoke Joinery

To add further temperature-controlled storage within the retail area, two Transtherm wine cabinets were supplied with opposite-opening doors for symmetrical access. Sorrells created custom joinery surrounds, allowing the cabinets to blend seamlessly into the shop’s interior scheme.

This solution provides the team with day-to-day access to temperature-sensitive stock without compromising visual cohesion. The integration of branded elements and natural finishes ensures the cabinets are treated as part of the broader design language rather than as standalone units.

Design Information

Each element within the Brunswick project plays a pivotal role in supporting the operational and commercial success of the wine shop. Every component has been designed with a clear purpose, contributing to a cohesive and high-performing retail environment.

The wine cellar serves as the backbone of the store – providing organised, temperature-controlled storage for fine wine by both the bottle and the case. Its structure and labelling system allow the team to access, manage, and present their inventory with clarity and confidence.
